What's it take to convert a 4x2 to a 4x4?

i am sure there are some threads on this, but i can't find them...

is it even worth it? i have really really been wanting a 4x4 latley... i need something to tinker on.... i'm truckless right now!!

Have you checked the 4wd and off road forum? There's usually a thread on this every week or two.
