I need new wheel bearings.
3 years ago, when I bought the truck, they put in new bearings. They are broken again, and I can't find any bearings for it. I don't think I have the Dana axle, the back of the housing is perfect round, so that's an GM axle? Edmond, that is the corporate axle. H-052 or H-072. I think there are only minor diffrences in the two.
I know that Randy's Ring & Pinion http://ring-pinion.com/home.html at least knows what they are and I know they have some parts for them. Good luck. I'm going to change mine to a Dana 70 if I can find one that I can afford. Those 4.57s are just too much, and spending $500+ to go to 3.90s is too much too. Not to mention the limited locker availability... ------------------ Bowen '68 K20 fleet '69 K10 swb fleet '72 C10 lwb step

you could always put in a 14 bolt, most all are 4.10 ratio and alot of them are bolt in(in leaf rear 67-72 trucks) except for one lower shock mount, but thats easy fix.
personally i owuld spend $0 on a eaton 3/4-1 ton (10 bolt) axle unless i really really had to... good luck ------------------ Randy- Lincoln, IL randy@ccaonline.com 2177353230 *many GM parts bought, traded, or sold -am parting out: '81 Cutlass Supreme Brougham current fleet: -71 C-10 350/CH465/3.07- basketcase, #1 -90 Cavalier 2.2L sky blue, a driver -84 Z28 5.0L/700R4/3.73 daily driver -84 Firebird/SE 2.8L/T-5/3.73/engine bad, project #2 -82 purple Trans Am, project #3 *Paint is overrated* © RSS Enterprises 2000 [This message has been edited by Fast68Chevy (edited May 10, 2002).] |

That option is even more difficult. Scrapyards with only older american cars/trucks is a problem in the Netherlands, there aren't any as far as I know.
Later models maybe, but not 67-72 trucks. Which years trucks can I use if I want to make the swap? Any eighties or nineties models? Thanks in advance. one of the reasons i havent begun the restoration of my dads 71 cheyenne 4x4 3/4 ton is b/c the corporate axle is gonna cost some where around $1200 bucks to have rebuilt. Only one place in town will work on them b/c of some bearing in em they dont wanna be liable for.

You could try a auto parts distributor in the US such as AutoZone or the likes. They have a web site and if you put in the year truck etc..it should give you a part nummber. Then try inputing different years to see if you can get the same number. The wheel bearings I think are the same as later model axles and even the 14 bolt. I'm not positive but the hubs on my Eaton sure looked the same as the ones on my 14 bolt. I threw the Eaton away...the whole thing..parts are expensive if you get nto the gears and or ring pinion bearings. Some parts are not available at all. This is what made me give up on it. I would be kinda concerned though as to why the bearings only lasted three years. That is a very short lifespan. Maybe something else is wrong or the assembly was bad to begin with.

Well three years is indeed a short life span for bearings. 3 Years ago it took 4 months before they found the right bearings. (In the US)
This time I saved the boxes the bearings and oil seals came in with and gave these at my shop mechanic. When he ordered the parts the numbers were incorrect. Strange but true. As soon as I get the boxes back I will post these numbers, maybe one of you guys can tell me what bearings they are. So now back to the axle swap. Which years truck can I use as a donor? Because if this axle is giving me that much trouble and parts are hard to come by than maybe that's the best option left... if you have leaf rear and not a 4x4 or a longhorn or a 1 ton then a 14 bolt 3/4 ton axle iwll bolt in, if you use the same year U bolt plates, only need to worry about moving one of the upper shock mounts in the frame,
