Hey, It's a Chevy. You can't hurt those things.... 4x4 about 2 ft long with the corners shaved off & BFH, break the pistons loose, put it together and drive it.......

lets see now wat did i use to use to break things loose...oh yeah i think i used kerosene,,let it soak for a day or so,,then a bfh and a 2x4..and make sur eno little kids or ladies are around to hear the cussing...i think i head the mystery oil is supposed to work to,,or deisel fuel works good..my dad always used deisel on old tractors he would pick up that hadnt run in a while...

I've seen worse brought back to life with no rebuild... but I don't recomend it.

Just looks like a "protective coating of rust" to me. If you have wore out parts, just let em set out , rust up good and assemble and good to go!!!!! Brings back the size..............(old sprint car trick!) I would soak it good with Gibbs, about a week or so, get it in everywhere that moves, and take it apart and hone it out , assemble with a clean bottom end and watch it scream!! A tight bottom end and wore out ( then honed ) run same size rings as the wore out bore ( loose as a go9ose) and use cast rings, good to go haulin' ass!!

I did this on a 327 with 180,000 that I spun a rod bearing on...........put in a regro8und crank kit, a wrecking yard cam from a 350 and did a valve job. What a screamer!! Revved like no bodys business! Ran lotsa more modern trucks right off the road on the freeway pullin a pass or towin!! Had the Ramas Horn run through duals to turbos. Sounded like the wind goin down the road, quiet as a mouse, then look out when i kicked the secondarys in and blasted past em all in the passing lane in the old 66 fleet!!

Rebuild it ala cheap, since it is a turn around motor for sure. Or break it all down and use the block,,,,,,,,it certainly is seasoned by now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a 327 in this predicament some years back. I soaked the cylinders first then put a grinding stone on an electrical drill and cut down most of the rust buildup to get the pistons out. Rust pits too deep to hone out and the rest of the engine was all standard size so I had the 2 bad cylinders sleeved, honed the other 6, polished crank, new cam and fresh heads and way to go.

1 can of "liquid lifters" and it should be ready to fire up.

fill the cylinders with brake fluid, and come back tomorow, you'll get 1/4 to 1/2 turn of the vrank... then top them off again and go back the folowing day. This is assuming you drag it inside.
Again... not recomended onless you like damaged rings and a crappy seal. It'll smoke for a year untill something lets go.

Hm, brake fluid will really help eh? I've got a 350 shortblock that has two frozen pistons... Had pb sitting the bores for 3 months now, wont budge.

yep, brake fluid should unlock the rings from the walls...if the crank is stuck too, then I have no idea how to unstick it short of disasembly.

Crank itself is unstuck, only the rings themselves are stuck.

i'd personally, if it was my block, i'd just spring for a whole rebuild. that's my $.02. there are plenty others with much more experience on these matters.

If it is stuck , use GIBBS lubricant. This stuff penetrates like nobodys busines and leaves behind a good lubricant that fights corrosion. Forget all of the back yard, homemade penetrating oils. I'm not saying they don't work to an extent, but Gibbs is the one!!!

lets be realistic here... any fix to get that sucker to move, without a trip to the machine shop... is a hillbilly back yard fix.
