Small bump in the road.
I've been drivin the Blazer every other day and lovin it. One thing though, Ol' Yeller keeps draining the battery. I pulled in today and shut him down and tried to re-start. No dice. Not enought juice to turn it over. Battery is pretty new and it lasted about a week. I guess I should check the alternator first and tape up any loose wires. Any other suggestions?

Re: Small bump in the road.
Does your horn work/not work? It could be your horn drawing the power from the buss bar - even if it isn't wired up to the core support.
That way the battery experiences the draw on the system - but you don't hear the horn to know that it is the culprit... |

Re: Small bump in the road.
You can try to see if you have a key off voltage drain. With the ignition off and the postive battery cable connected to the post. Disconnect the negative battery cable and connect a test light or meter leads between the negative cable and negative post. If the meter shows voltage draw or the light comes on you have a drain somewhere. Otherwise I would say a bad alt not charging since the battery is new.

I took the alt off and I had it tested. No bueno. I bought a new one as well as the voltage regulator. Installed both and charged the battery and it fired right up. Went to my uncles house about 20 miles away w/o any problems. HOWEVER, on the way home I noticed my brake pedal get lower and lower. By the time I got home it was going all the way to the floor and the brake light in the dash was on. I got home and cracked open the master cylinder and the front reservior (sp) was empty. S.O.B.!!!! I just had the brakes done. Gonna have to call my buddies at A plus automotive and take them Ol' yeller. Oh yeah, I only have one headlight too. I already replaced the foot switch and still one light. Any suggestions?

Re: Small bump in the road.
Check the terminals and the ground on your headlight. After almost 40 years, wiring tends to corrode or just break.

Re: Small bump in the road.
What he said! Also the old connectors to the back of the light can get pretty sloppy or even burnt.
