This is a common thing on craigslist. It is called "phishing".

Every time I put something on craigslist, I get one or two responses of this nature.

I just got the same damn email today for a windshield I put on craigslist. Told them to go suck one cause I only take cash!

I had one of those when I sold my old truck, sounded bad to me I never responded. Heck these days allot of banks won't accept cashiers checks and ther is no protection getting the check cashed either it may not show up as bad for 5 days then you still pay the bank back BEWARE.

I just bought a truck from a guy in Vegas without even seeing it ( ARAD^* was good enough to look at it for me) and the transaction when much the same was EXCEPT he is holding the truck until the funds CLEAR, not just deposited. The banks don't know for a week or 2 if the moneys no good, by then the unit is long gone.

Lesson being, if the guy won't wait for a week for the bank to confirn the funds then don't do the deal.
