Idk about you guys...

but whenever i see an old square body, no matter the condition, driving down the road i get a huge smile on my face
especially when i pass a newer F**d on the side of the road in my 32+ year old truck, i can't stop laughing
also i love driving along side or passing another square body, and you and the other guy are checking out eachother's rides

feeling good today, just thought i'd share my pride

Re: Idk about you guys...

lol just this afternoon in the safeway parking lot, i had an old timer come up to me as i was getting out of the truck. he asked me what size engine i had and he kept saying it sounded goooood haha he was really impressed with the work i've done, and said a classic truck like this has a certain presence wherever it goes...
made me happy

Re: Idk about you guys...

This makes me feel great, especially after investing close to $20 grand in restoring my Dad's original 1984 GMC Sierra 3500 2wd Single rear wheel Pickup. I always smile when people look or give a thumbs up.

I also like some of the newer trucks but we have CLASS and these are real trucks.

LOL- Yeah that makes me feel even better.

Some guys in Newer trucks look at our trucks in a funny way - like they are thinking, "What the hell are u still doing with that old thing- even if it looks brand new."

My Dad always says," They don't make trucks like that anymore!"

Ours is a 1 Ton and I absolutely love the 9 leaf springs + 1 helper spring.

One time my nephew took my Dad's 1984 GMC 3500 2wd single rear wheel to go pick up like 6,000 lbs of kitchen and living room tiles. Before deciding to take my dad's truck, they looked at my other brother-in-laws 2000 something Ford 350 Lariat 4x4 Diesel and they decided to take the 1984 GMC because they knew that it could hold more than the Newer Frod.

When the tile guy loaded the GMC PickUp, he stated that he never saw a Heavy Duty truck hold all that weight and still not squat all the way down!

Gotta love it.
An older time told me that he likes the older trucks because the rear sits lower to the ground than Newer trucks so its easier to load older trucks.

Re: Idk about you guys...

My 80 is only a half ton but we had a big elm chopped down in our back yard last year and a friend of mine came and got the wood out of it.

Some of these logs were anywhere from Id say 10-12 inches across maybe more. Yeah the rear squatted alot but the whole 35 mile trip to his house it did 60mph on Highway 30 here in NE and didnt complain once.

So have to agree with the "They dont make it like this anymore" statement and a big X3 as to being Built not bought.

Re: Idk about you guys...

I'm in on this one..... I get thumbs up when I'm on the freeway... cruising in the right hand lane... more often than none, when I get gas, or stop at the store.. or even at school.. I get someone telling me..... "That's a clean truck man... I use to have one but I wrecked it, or my friend, or my grandpa, dad, uncle had a square..."
It's a kool conversation piece while pumping gas =0)

Or in the words of my girlfriend when she first seen my truck.... "I like how your rim thingies match the color of your truck...." LOL Classic female
