Engine identification
I am currently working on a big chevy truck a 1969 C50. I have the VIN, the engine block casting number and the engine block stamp code. My problem is that none of the web sites list the numbers that I have. Can anyone direct me to a place where I can find out what engine I have.

Thanks for the additional web site, however this web site gives me the same information that all the others have given me, for example my block casting number is 3756518 which is not listed. It does list a 3756519 which is a 58-62 283 2bolt main. Most of the websites have numbers listed which are for cars and pickups but evedently there is no one listing numbers for bigger trucks. I am still searching. Thanks again anyway!

alot of the big trucks had the same motors our C50 had a 292 L6 Are you sure its a big block because it could very well be a 283 or other regular production motor. But they made a 366 and 427 tall decks exclusively for the big trucks.

Hey every one, I found out what engine I have and wanted to share my findings. As I stated above I have a BIG TRUCK not a BIG BLOCK. I have a small block with the stamp code in front of the right side cylinder head of "F0426PA". I could not find anywhere on the WWW what the PA stood for. I initially did not go to one of the local Chevy dealers because I didn't have the faith that there would be anyone old enough to know what I wanted or know where to look. I lucked out though, I found a guy that is older than me to help me. The suffix of "PA" stands for 283 task master engine 55-62. I will continue to find out what the "task master" means. This confirms my suspicion that I did not have an original engine, the truck is a 1969. He found this information in a book dated May 1979 entitled Chevrolet Truck Illistrated Parts Book, 1946-1972, 1 1/2- 2 1/2 ton series 40-50-60. He also had the same book for the 10-20-30 series. Old parts guys ROCK!
