3 speed to a 4 speed?
My truck is a 3 on the tree. 68. What does it take to put a saginaw 4 on the floor in it? Do i need the raised hump?
I believe the bellhousing stays. The linkage will need to be changed? Will i need a driveshaft? Also what clutch kit would be best? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 3 speed to a 4 speed?
I'm sure you have a Saginaw 3 sp. if so the 4 sp is the same length. slides right in to the old clutch. you will need floor linkage for a bench seat. only thing is the bottom holes in the 4 sp. front case are not threaded like the trk 3 sp. you just have to use a nut and bolt on the bottom holes.

floor linkage for a bench seat in a four speed?
are we talking about a truck four speed. You might get lucky and find a truck four speed with those lower threaded hole, every one I've seen have them unless they are striped out. I would make the jump to a NV4500. Big bucks up front but that overdriven fifth gear makes perfect sence. |

I agree with Mike, if you're going to go through the trouble of swapping transmissions, I'd get at least a 5 or 6 speed.

[QUOTE=mike16;7567671]floor linkage for a bench seat in a four speed?
are we talking about a truck four speed. No, he is askin about a Saginaw 4 sp. you need the shift linkage that for a bench seat. the shifter rod or handle is a bit different for a bench seat. they curve forward to miss the bench. |
