Headers for lowered Big Blocks

Any recommendations? I'm looking for something 3/4 length or so that won't hang as low as my current full length set.

stay away from the hooker competions[not super comps] they hang the full diam below the frame.

Same here... I have a 402 going into a 67, and do not want any exhaust running lower then the frame....

I have Sandersons BB3 3/4 length for a Chevelle in my truck. IIRC, I trimmed the pass side rail 1/8" for insurance only. They cleared, but I figured the 468's torque would move the factory rubber m.mount isolators a little bit & I didn't want them to hit.

I punched holes in the crossmember, welded in the large diameter pipe like many on here & have 3" mandrel exhaust to the rear end that's 'invisible' w/the exception of the oil filter area (you can see that pipe through the fenderwell opening).

You may not be able to see it..... but you could definitely hear it.

Yes sir. Over the trans crossmember (fabricated crossmember that's very similar in construction to what's now offered from ECE or Perf-OnLine) and a straight shot through the boxed trailing arm c.member.

If you get down on the ground & look @ the truck from the side, you don't see any exhaust @ all.
As for pics.... I have so much crap in/around this project that it will take a few days to get some.

Check out that old thread of mine, those are patriot clipsetters from summit for a early 70's chevelle or malibu. Only had to do minor trimming and the are quality headers. You could lay frame with them on there.

Actually, if I didn't have other things in the way, I could have easily routed them above and through the crossmembers. My current Transmissioin linkage was in the way. I love these Hedmans. The only thing I regret is not opting for the ceramic coating.

They have a new collector design that is more forgiving, and allows for different approach angle of the exhaust pipe. Just something else to consider....

I don't think you will beat the patriot's for the price and they are well made. In the begining I ordered some of the flowtechs for a bbc truck and they hung down way to far and were no where near the quality of the patriot's. JM2C

I hear ya jkade. I just know that the 1/4" flanges on my current set are iffy at best. They seal with an extra thick gasket. If I can go with 3/8 for a reasonable price I will.

I got a response from Sanderson:

"Our BB4 will work, but not the BB8. BB4 is abit shorter."

The BB4 are block huggers. I'd like 3/4 length if possible. Here's the BB4

Summit list the patroit as 1/4" flange but the Patroit site list them as 3/8" flange. I have been looking at these but was also worried about the 1/4" flange. If in fact they are 3/8" this is the way I am going. jkade, Maybe you could measure your flange?

If that's the case I'll probably go with the patriots myself. They actually appear to be slightly shorter than the Headmans and have a better looking coating, plus 1 7/8" primaries instead of the 1 3/4" on the Headmans. Just wish they had the ball-flange type collectors:
