Sport Mirrors Question???

Are sport mirrors universal? Can the Passenger side mirror be used on the driver side? I thought I've seen/heard someone say they were, and that you could use them on either side. Reason I ask is because I'm buying a Sport mirror later today and the seller said he only has the passenger side mirror. So I thought maybe I could use it on the driver side. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Re: Sport Mirrors Question???

No they are not. If you need a left side sport mirror, then you need to buy a left side. WES

Re: Sport Mirrors Question???

Ok I ended up not buying that 1 single passenger side mirror. The guy found an extra set of sport mirrors in his shed. So I bought those off him. Pretty nice set and for the price I couldnt pass it up. So my question is how do I install these? Does anybody have the measurements? The pic below is not mine, I did a searh and found it here on the forum (Not sure whos pic this is, Let me know if I can't do this.). Mine are exactly the same. I just need help with installing them. I only have the mirrors and the brackets, no gaskets. Where can I get some gaskets for these mirrors? Any help is appreciated, thanks!!!

Re: Sport Mirrors Question???

Does that diagram work for my mirrors too? My mirrors ont have the extra hole on the outside like the one in the pic. My mirrors only have one hole and its kind of hidden on the inside just below the glass.

It looks like yours are 73 and newer. I would have some one hold them up and install where they can be used the best.

Re: Sport Mirrors Question???

Pretty sure those are not factory sport mirrors (pictured), pretty close but they should have 3 mounting holes on the outside and the mirrors base.

You can get the gaskets from LMC

On the mirrors you have the bracket with the two tabs sticking up mounts on the door, the mirror sits down over the tabs and the set screw tightens up against one of the tabs. If you turn one of the mirrors upside down and set the bracket down inside the mirror base with the tabs to the inside you can see how it works.

Re: Sport Mirrors Question???

Thanks for the help!!! I'm gonna try what toomuchstuff said and have somebody hold them and mount them where I can see good. Does anybody know the correct size/type screws I need to mount these? Would like to pick up the screws from home depot or ace hardware rather than order them online. Let me know, thanks!
