new motor mount question

I went to napa and got two new motor mounts but they are a little bit different. The problem is that the new ones have a lip on the bottom so I can't get a wrench in between the crossmember and the mount to bolt them to the block. It looks like I may have to remove my dist. cap and loosen the tranny mount to get the engine higher, or cut the lip off. Does anyone else have any idea's?

I went out and looked at mine and they are the same, even though I have a C10. I think that the angle on the new one is to limit engine movement in case the rubber breaks. The old originals would let the engine flop over under torque if the mount broke. There have been other types of mount designs to prevent this but this seems to be the common one now.

I don't have the fenders on mine so I can see well in there but it would still be a hard job to replace these. I put mine on the engine before it went in. Looks to me like lifting the engine to get clearance so you can get on the bolts is the only way to do it.

I've already got the engine up as high as I can, I'm going to try and un-bolt the crossmember to get more room. Its a good thing this isn't my daily driver!

Take the frame mounts off bolt the motor mounts in place then put the frame mounts back on the frame. the mounts are just 3 bolts as well.
