Re: here is my truck

bucket, you are right. that is a fuel door. This one has 2 extra fuel tanks. there is one on each side with a door and lock. There is a lever inside the truck to switch to which tank you want to use. cool. huh

Yup its cool until you drop a paycheck at the pumps. I had dual tanks in my c30..was nice for road trips but with the 454 and a missing 4th gear I was screwed either way. I wound up taking one tank out and replacing it with an air tank when I bodydropped her. Good looking truck..now check your SPID

Re: here is my truck

does anyone still use the split rims anymore? Can a radial tire be put on split rims? or do I have to use bias tires.

Yes we do, we just go to a heavy truck tire dealer( dont waste your time with a car tire dealer). Regardless of the horror stories you probably heard, these rims are safe and never been recalled. These rims require experienced tire people to mount. Can use both 16" bais and 16" radial type. It costs more to deal with these rims, tubes, liner extra labor, put it is worth the extra expense if you are interested in retaining the orignal look of the vehicle. Newer rims with newer hubcaps are period incorrect and do not match the styling of a '68.

Re: here is my truck

Most tire shops will not touch a split rim nowadays.

Re: here is my truck

Carlydude465, Is that a 50th? Looks like it could be. Can you check your SPID for 551 paint code and 625 or 626 parchment interior? Or is your steering wheel, dash pad, and visors gold color?

Nice looking truck man, The work so far looks good. That front end really cleaned up nice. Thanks for postin and to the forum.

That's cool!!! Does it have parchment (white) interior? If so then it's a 50th anniversary edition. A 50th is a special edition from chevrolet to commemorate the 50th year of producing chevrolet trucks. (1918 first year of trucks) It was a widely advertised edition and many were ordered. Here's a pic of a original Ad.
