How to Remove 1980 K10 Dashboard

How to Remove 1980 K10 Dashboard?

Seen mixed info on removal. Some say 4 bolts and pull it out and others post 4 bolts and it's spot welded in place. I need to rewire truck and want it out of the way for access. Ultimately, I have a 350 with Edelbrock fuel injection waiting to be dropped in, but I want new wiring as the previous owner cut and spliced like there was no tomorrow! Had '69 Chevelle and lost it to an electrical fire and don't want to relive the past. Thanks.

The metal part of the dash is welded in at the windshield ..i would not remove it unless it was damaged.
If you pull the dash pad gauges and glove box it is easy to replace the harness.

Just take notes where the donor truck harness is routed ...remember these truck were built on an assembly line so everything is designed to go in quickly.

Compared to a modern vehicle the wiring on our trucks is very simple.

To remove the dash pad you are gonna need a sawzall, cutting torch, and a hammer...

J/K all kidding aside there is somethin like 5 bolts holding the pad in, romove those, your gauge bezel, glovebox, maybe drop the steering column, and it should be enough room to rewire. good luck and welcome to the board

Thanks for the help. Glad you mentioned the sawzall. I was about to use some old M-80 firecrackers I had to loosen things up!

Love it! You cannibalized a vette for a blazer!
