Brake pedal staying part way down?

I have re-assembled my truck [71 2wd stock disk brakes] and have a nagging problem with the brake system. Everything is new except the brake pedal assembly and the prop valve. When I press on the brakes the pedal stays down part way, say 3". This keeps the brakes slightly applied, enough that the truck can't be rolled around the garage without lifting on the pedal each time. Does anyone know why my pedal would not want to return to the full and upright position? I have bleed the brakes, and the reservoir is full fwiw... thanks!

do you have a pedal return spring, if so it might just be worn out a little. it connects to the pedal and somewhere else under the dash.

Try loosening the through bolt for the pedal rod. It only needs to be on tight enough to get the cotter pin installed. I've run mine down too far a couple of times and it makes the pedal bind on its pivot point and stick down towards the floor.

Yes! Thank you Dave for that suggestion, I had tightened the pivot bolt way too tight and it was holding the pedal, now all is good. My truck To Do List is getting shorter!
