Question TH350 Kickdown Cable Info

Does anyone have any links w/ good pics for connecting a kickdown cable to a TH350. I don't have one currently. We recently acquired the truck and have been focusing on the motor until now. I have read that you don't necessarily need one to make shifts possible. Shifting has mostly to do with the vac. modulator correct? The way I understand is that the kickdown cable only controls the shift one gear and only at WOT. We definitely would like to punch out while going about 20-35 or on the highway. I assume the cable is the only way that is going to happen. Also, shift from 1-2 is clean and good but 2-3 is a little hesitant unless RPM's are a little higher. Do I have to change the springs in the governor to adjust the shift point or can I adjust the modulator (if it's in fact adjustable) to accomodate and earlier shift point?

Any info on parts needed, applications, and diagrams for easy installation would be very helpful.

With out the kick down cable, you can damage your transmission, and it won't shift right even under normal driving. I can grab some pics this saturday if you need, mine isn't hooked up but I can show where to hook it.

Re: TH350 Kickdown Cable Info

wrong.
On an overdrive, the TV cable is very important... but a TH350 can go forever with no cable. I've been driving the linghorn since 05 with no cable.
The cable does a little more than just kick down. I'm sure you've noticed that it holds first OK when you floor it, but it goes through second real quiick. When the kick down is pulled out, it totally ignores the signal sent from the modulator to up****, and it then only shifts when you lift off the throttle, or ones the gov tells it to.
