Vin or serial number on frame
I just picked up a frame to do a swap. I want to know the year. I want to know if there is away to decode the vin on the frame.? 14072639 on top the below 4 243 (s) 2. Any help would be great thanks.

The VIN is not on the side of the frame.
It will be on the horizontal surface on the top flange of the frame. That looks like a part number and date code.

That's not the vin#, you need to look on the top of the right side frame rail between the front two bed bolt holes and where the passenger seat would be for a vin #.

Also on the drivers side frame rail forward of the engine stands on the top of the rail

I took a look last night but did not see any other numbers. Will try and take a better look again. Will clear more snow off.

Without referring to any reference material, my guess would be:
C = Chevy F = 1985 1 = Oshawa 126326 = sequential portion of VIN K
