NOS extreme bend hook ...did I pay to much ???

http://m.ebay.com/itm/CHEVY-GMC-N-O-...av=WON&trxId=0 scored a driver's side extreme bend hook. I have a passenger side so it
was dumb luck when I stumbled on it with 54minutes to go. So am I an idiot for paying this much ?? My wife says yes

Re: NOS extreme bend hook ...did I pay to much ???

Seems to be the going rate, based on what I see on this site. Maybe a bit more, but who cares?

"You never pay 'too much' you only pay 'too soon!'" That's a quote from a gun collector I know and he's 100% RIGHT.

Re: NOS extreme bend hook ...did I pay to much ???

Please correct me if I am wrong but "extreme bend" 72 only hooks are not "handed" and have the same part/casting number.

The earlier style used from 69-72 were handed. In fact the 70 parts manual is showing p/n 3941733 as being a 69-70 left hook.

Re: NOS extreme bend hook ...did I pay to much ???

The only time I would say paying 200 for a tow hook makes sense is if it is for a full blown original restoration. Otherwise, total lunacy.

Re: NOS extreme bend hook ...did I pay to much ???

My other extreme hook doesn't have a part number either. I'm thinking it's not a
extreme one now. I bid on it and it's not the seller's fault so I owboyed up and still paid
and my truck has 2 of the other side hooks on it one extreme and one of the earlier 72
Style that I removed off a truck in Utah. Is it possible that they put the wrong hooks from
the factory ??? I swear they didn't appear to have ever been off the truck??? Either way I have a ds hook to match one on mine and in my defense I paid up because I had the other one otherwise I would not have paid this much m

I think I may run the hooks from the '81-87 trucks they look pretty good, and I have a set they are bent sideways not straight like the 73-80 hooks

Re: NOS extreme bend hook ...did I pay to much ???

Prices people sell all the factory tow hooks for are crazy high and the impractical extreme bends are the worst. But, you paid 1/2 what a pair of used go for and yours is N.O.S., so as things are you did quite well.

Those hooks shown as 73-80 are actually 88-98. There were two style between '72 and '88 skipped over. Those aren't all that different from the earlier ones except the ends are rounded off.

Re: NOS extreme bend hook ...did I pay to much ???

The extremes carried the same part number as the 69-72. Not sure why some had part numbers and some didn't. I have both. They all have the small symbol on them.

Tim, if you are referring to my pic of the 73-80 hooks, that is what they are. There are actually 4 different styles of 73-87 hooks that I am aware of.
