Front end swap

So last week I was gonna swap my front end from my 61 apache for a 79 front end,but I ended up with a 71 chev which I needed for the rear end, because my 61 rear end was welded together years ago,and I wanted 5 bolt ,I was wondering what thoughts are about using the front x member from this 71 as it looks very close to same as original accept with 5 bolt hubs, coils, and disk brakes, which one would work best 71 or 79,

Re: Front end swap

From an installation perspective, there would be no difference. The '71 uses a 2 year only upper(?) ball joint and the control arms have the greasable steel shaft bushings. The '79 parts are used over the '73-'87 year span and the control arm bushings are rubber.

Re: Front end swap

The truck steering boxes from '68-'87 are all interchangeable.
