Well, she got here today and I am ecstatic. There are just a few minor things that I need to change. First thing is to shorten the gas pedal. I am 6'4" and I need a little more legroom. The original seat is maintained and the seatback is a little thick. Maybe someone with the same problem could suggest a better seat? The truck runs and drives great with a 1995 350/350 drivetrain. It is very quick and the suspension is tight with no squeaks or rattles. When I met the seller he already had the truck running. When I started the truck later, the starter dragged really badly ( the seller had left the cargo light turned on). No problem now, though. The truck is destined for dropped spindles and 17" Torq-Thrusts and a new CD player. Any ideas on where to place the speakers? I am considering 6 X 9's in the lower door panels. I hope Santa was as good to all of you!!

Yoy can get speakers for the kick pannels .

Where the vent's are by your feet.

hey congrats looks like one fine ride!! and i am in agreeance with the others, don't cut the doors unless you have too!

When you say "homeboyed" I guess you are talking about lowering the truck. Trust me, nothing will be done that can't be undone. I only want to lower it enough to make the wheels look right in the fender wells. I live in Houston where there are some really bad roads. I don't want to have to slow down all the time to negotiate potholes and bumps.

Bravedave, i think he was referring to cutting the doors.....most guys here won't tell you not to lower your 2 wheel drive........

Sweet ride Dave.Looks like my 4x4s little brother.Buy 6x9s to slide under front edge of seat .Speakers in doors are a bad ideal for several reasons.Just my .02

kick panels with the speakers in them is the way to go and they are fairly easy to make.

Nice truck bravedave! Love that color too man. I guess mine is "homeboyed out" it's lowered, the doors are cut with 6X9's and the dash is cut also, I lowered it and put the speakers in but the dash was already cut. I think it's a matter of personal preference, my truck is semi-stock but I would never listen to the purists who cry everytime they see someone modifying our trucks. I mean I love those too but we all have our own ideas.

Anyways super nice truck man, did you get a good deal?

i plan on cutting my dash, it'll definitely look better than the old radio hole just staring at me. if anybody doesn't want me to cut the dash i would gladly accept an NOS radio to fill the hole

i wouldn't cut the doors tho when you can get some kick panel speakers. looks better and will improve sound quality also.

EDIT:also the holes where the radio knobs go look like they have been filed a little. i guess someone was trying to fit a smaller radio in there.

BTW, someone on the board installed the speakers in the door panels them self's. This way, he could just put on new panels if he wanted to.

speakers in the door panels isn't that bad of an idea. but you would have to do a lot of work to stop rattles.

Don't butcher up such a nice truck. I have 6X9s under my seat in some small speaker boxes, and they work fine. I wouldn't mess with doors. You'll thank yourself later

I'm just looking for doors clean enough to cut up! (that oughta tick off a couple ppl) It's your truck, put them where ever you like. I will cut up the doors one day. You can always weld in new metal if you go for a 100 point resto one day.

I see nothing wrong with doing stuff to your truck to make it how you want it but, I think that the 6x9s in holes cut in the door look really bad. Also, think about it, look where you would cut the whole, and you can see that it has part of the seat infront of it, and also that right where someones leg is when they are stiing in the seat. I know all of this becuase someone did that to mine, and I really don't like it. I don't really mind cutting the dash, but I would never put speakers in the doors.

When i do mine, i plan on getting the little carpet deal to cover them up...just poke holes int eh backing of the carpet to help with the sound passing through.
