rear sway bar installation
Does anybody have any info on installing a rear sway bar on a swb coil spring rear. I thought I ran across a website that gave the measurements, but I can't find it now. Thanks.

Re: rear sway bar installation
i've used the bolton helwig rear swaybar on two trucks with coil rears both were lowered4-5" the bar went on easy and worked great . i think i got them from jcwhitney
i liked it because it mounted ahead of the rear and clamped onto the trailing arms. which located the frame mounting points to the most rigid section of the frame with no panhard or gastank clearance issues as well as being tucked up out of sight

Re: rear sway bar installation
when i lowered mine, i replaced the stock springs for 6'' inch lowering springs from gmc paul's and used a super track bar from early classics (ece)

Re: rear sway bar installation
I called ECE (Early Classic Enterprises) about installing a rear sway bar and they advised me AGAINST doing this. I don't remember off the top of my head the reason though.

Re: rear sway bar installation
I lowered the rear with 4" drop springs and I have an adjustable panhard bar on it. I was wanting to mount the sway bar to the trailing arms.

They told me the same thing. Basically said it makes the truck loose.

Re: rear sway bar installation
Big_al_71,
That's looks like the same one I have. I bought the bar and brackets that attach to the trailing arms at a swap meet. I need to make the brackets that mount to the sides of the frame. I also need to get the bushings. Why were you told it wasn't recommended when you dropped it more? |

I replaced my rear trailing arms with the square tubing ones from ECE my truck rides 100% better than it did before with the rear sway bar. I did not want to drill my new trailing arms so the sway bar was coming off no matter what wether they said yes or no..
