Bought a new truck!

Scored this clean baby for a cool $1500

Its a 1974 Chevy C20 Custom. No options less a heater, lol! Body is real good, and it's 350 runs very well, smokes a bit though... The CM465 has messed up syncros, its tough to get it into second and third. Everything that it does have works well, and doesn't seem to badly hacked up. It was orignally a green color and was repainted, but whoever painted it did a very poor prep job, so the paint is peeling off all over the place. No rot in the bed, or passenger's side fender, driver's side fender has a big dent and some nasty rot in it, along with the cab corner on the driver's side. Has a brand new dual exhaust setup with heads, extremely aggressive exhaust note... The truck also came with a box load of new parts -- Fenders, valence, front clip trim, new grill etc

I plan to use the best parts from the two trucks to make one nice one, and one not so nice one, I'll then practice my bondo / expanding foam skills on it after cutting all the rot out and stopping the cancer, I'll then epoxy prime the whole thing in hopes that it doesn't break out with cancer again while giving it a paint job to practice painting a truck, then sell it, and start working on the nice truck's body

PS -- The grill for my 80 is sitting in the shop, I've been working on the electric fans mounted in there

Yeah, mine's got three really nice chevy ones.

So, what do you want for one, Russel?

what condition they in? All 4 of mine are scracth and dent free, and the chrome still shines nice and purdy. I got a little white rattlecan left, im thinking of re whiting the wheels themselves as they are starting to show a tad bit o rust.

Russ, that '74 looks sweet!!!

I myself want to get a clean 73-80 C20 pretty soon (Once yeller is finished). I think it would be a cool tow rig and hardware store hauler.

On the crappier truck, not my good one, lol

I'd tell the new owner how the repairs were done, I'm not out to rip someone off... It'll be sold as a running truck, not a restored beauty, lol

As far as the front clip goes, I'm planning on putting the 80's front clip onto the truck I keep, I might change my mind though, cause I like both of them... We'll see how the 74 clip looks with the new grill and chrome front bumper / bumperettes I have for it...

As far as my restoration plan goes, I plan to use the 74 as a foundation, putting my 80's cab on, the Blazer Tank in, front bumper / bumperettes, and rear sliding window in. The 74 has a very solid suspension, frame and rear end while the 80 has a bent frame with a tired and abused suspension with a half dead rear end. I also plan to move all of the options from the 80 over to the 74.

nice score indeed. something about those stock wheels on a non-2 tone truck. i just love the way it looks. when my grandma decides that my grandpa's old K20 is ready to retire as the "family truck" she gets to go under my knife. nothing but a stock rework, and little things to make it more functional, cosmetically it will be the same as when grandpa was using it, just a little nicer. i plan on using it for a tow/haul/plow rig.

here's a pic of her the winter before last, when i bought my first K20.

the bed is the original from "OneFaastC10"

Cool, so which one you building up? You switching the parts over to the 80 or to the 74. Personally (since I got a 76) I like the round headlights better then the square ones. Good find.

I had to come back and take another look at the truck Russ...you little piece of crap!

Seriously, I see your grill on the '74 has seen better days. I have two spare 73/74 grills, both are in decent shape with no cracks or broken bars....if interested in one let me know.

I see it now. Man they both look to have great hoods. Mine has the good ol' bend in the middle. What type of mufflers does the 74 have on it?

The 74 has a brand of muffler I've never heard of, they are called Straight-throughs. Extremely aggressive when you romp on it, but quiet right down when you are just cruising.

The 80's hood is in real good shape, has a couple of dings along the front, and a couple dings on the top from hail hitting it at one time in it's life. The 74's hood is mint less a hole near the cowl where some debris from a vehicle infront of the PO hit it, dented the cab above the windshield shattering the windsheild

Yep, thats the brand, I haven't crawled underneith to take a look at em yet

Heres a couple more pictures. The fender is the worst damage on the truck, and also the only place on the whole truck that I was able to find any bondo. I've got brand new fender for it sitting in the box of the truck The box side is a picture of the worst side.

Russell, you say your 80 has a bent frame, what i see in that pic looks like cab mount bushings that are toast.

I don't doubt that one bit -- But I know the frame is bent, did some measuring from the ground up and there is about an inch of difference...
