Exclamation Heater controller question

Has anyone taken the heater contol off of a 67-72 Chevy and repainted it? And if so is it worth redoing or just purchasing a repo.

Re: Heater controller question

The real question is "can you do the work" and how much do you value your time. To me it is a hobby and I enjoy my hobby. The Spring 2006 LMC catalog shows a list price of $120. If you remove yours to paint it how much time can you spend painting it. Same amount of work involved to remove and replace as to remove, paint, and replace. I vote for repainting.

Re: Heater controller question

Pugster, if you really want a better heater control use the original.I haven't used a repo but they don't seem as solid to me as the factory one.If it's a heater only the kit costs about $25.00-30.00. I cleaned and lubed the cables and replaced the levers(originals are "pot" metal).I dragged it out over about 3 days but actually only had a couple of hours in the work.Kit for rebuilding the contorl should be available from any vendor.I repainted mine while it was apart and it probably took as much time to do it that way as to mask it.

Re: Heater controller question

There was a thread on here last week with a step by step on rebuilding and painting, but I cannot find it by search. Maybe someone saved it and will post.

Re: Heater controller question

^Not that I know of, but I did do a thread last week on how to restore an A/C Controller, but they're completely different.
