Hardtop bolt size and count

Does anyone know off hand what the size and count of the blazer hardtop bolts are? I just realized that my project vehicle was leaking because it doesn't have any of the bolts that hold the top on.

Re: Hardtop bolt size and count

Do you have a single wall or double wall top? That will make a difference in the bolts. Single walls bolt down through the top to the bed, double walls bolt up from the bottom of the bedside.

Re: Hardtop bolt size and count

The bolts along the left and right rails go up through the sheet metal into the fiberglass top. So I think its the double wall.

So what are the advantages and disadvantages between a single and double wall top?

Single wall (lighter and has dome lights, door glass has metal channel with weatherstrip)
Double wall (heavier no dome lights, door glass has weaterstrip only)
Bolt locations are different for both, there has been alot of discussion on this topic might do a search and find more, good luck

Re: Hardtop bolt size and count

Mine were 5/16X18 as well on the double wall top.

When I rebuilt the top rails, I went with 3/8X16 to beef up the holding power.

Re: Hardtop bolt size and count

There are also 2 bolts that hold the top to the windshield frame that are longer and skinnier (don't know the exact specs). I can look for them and get a pic if not one else has the specs...

Bobby- thanks, that link was very helpful. I went to lowes and grabbed a set of the visor-to-top bolts for less than $3, and they worked great. I realized that it must have came with the double wall top originally, since none of the bolt holes line up on the bed rail to the top. It is a great reference. I copied the page with the photos and saved it in my Blazer folder for reference.
