Fitting double duces on 72 GMC

Hey I've got a question. Has anyone ever fit a set of 22x9.5 with 5.810 BSM? I want to set it up for bags at a later date if possible. Thanks in advance

By the title I thought you were asking about two 2bbl carbs, and was thinking, "Why?". Dueces are 2bbl carbs in my mind since back in the day when they ran 3 dueces. Now I see you mean big hoops and I'm thinking, "Why?"

Also I don't want to change the axles or tub it out. I have perfect factory wheels that I want to be able to put on at a moments notice and run them as well. King ranch leather seats, door panels and dash board inside and a fresh original code green paint job on the outside

Re: Fitting double duces on 72 GMC

Well double means two and duces is a slick way of saying two haha. The question isn't why tho. It's why not. If it can be done. I'd like to do it. The biggest I've seen so far were 20's and the BSM measurement is different for 22's

Re: Fitting double duces on 72 GMC

Are you 5 lug or 6 lug?

I have 22x9 on my 67 with 6" backspace up front and 4.375" out back. But my 6 lug rear axle is narrower than a 5 lug. 5.810 will push the wheels out 0.200" plus the extra half so almost 3/4". It would probably work but will be close to fender lip.

Re: Fitting double duces on 72 GMC

Thanks Bagd 72 and money pit. They are 5x135mm and I'm putting 1" adapters back to 5x127mm. I think I'm gonna not be able to bag it with the extra 1" adapters but I got the rims and tires on the cheap. I want to be able to run them and my original wheels that are in perfect condition. The picture I posted is the I'll be doing this to. I really want to be able to bag it later as I like those set ups with original and big boy shoes. 69moneypit BSM is the backspace measurement from the back lip to where the hub touches the flat of the wheel where the lug holes are

Re: Fitting double duces on 72 GMC

69moneypit I found a place that sells the King Ranch leather by the hide and I just sold my KR 250 I just miss the interior. I don't know if anyone has done a KR 1972 GMC but I'm sure gonna try it. Everything else is gravy with the 72 tho. Just rebuilt the 4 bbl Rock when I was home last time just didn't have time to order the adapters for the wheels. Think I'm going with the 235/30ZR 22 tires. The 305/40's have a little more meat than I want for the stance I wanted. I don't live to awful far from Kemper in Quitman. Are there any C10/C1500 truck clubs about around my area?

Re: Fitting double duces on 72 GMC

Double deuces equals four. I have 4" rims on my hand truck

Hey just messing with you. I'm not around that pool hall talk enough I guess.

Actually, the proper way to say 2 2bbls, in slang, would be "dual deuces", just as we say "dual quad". That's a pretty cool lookin' truck. Got a picture with those wheels out of the way? Is the picture tinted? It sure looks bright green for a truck with bad paint

Re: Fitting double duces on 72 GMC

Hey sorry for delay in reply. Busy at work. 69moneypit I did a search on Google and found a few classic/vintage clubs but nothing closer to me. SpecialK has jokes and jokes and ragging is what makes this lifestyle fun. I put that title to draw attention to the post and got some really good feed back so I went ahead and ordered the tires mentioned on here and when I get back I'll install it all. Preciador6 thanks for the feedback and that is one cool looking delivery truck. I need to get out more. I really like these vintage and classic rides. They don't make them like this anymore. I've got a 2015 loaded out Expedition EL and wish it would turn into a 1972 blazer real quick I have more pictures on my phone of the truck. I'm on the rig and only allowed this iPad no cell phones. That picture was first thing in the morning and high definition filter was applied as well. I'll post one that I have no filter on if I can find it. Anyone got pics of similar 22's on their C10/1500?

Re: Fitting double duces on 72 GMC

To give you an idea about the paint. It was sprayed olive drab by the previous owner. The side I took a picture with the rims next to the truck was wet sanded with 1200 grit sandpaper and buffed out. The other side I hadn't done yet I'll try to up load a picture of as well. Bare with me tho

Re: Fitting double duces on 72 GMC

Bare in mind the paint isn't staying like this. I'm changing the grille components out and I'll spray it back to its original green metallic. I'll run it shop truck style for awhile tho. I think the wet sanded side looks pretty awesome but I don't want it to turn it into a rust-o-mod. Nothing against the patina rides. I think they look awesome and have a place in our world but this one I want to preserve it.

Re: Fitting double duces on 72 GMC

That medium olive when it goes bad looks like puke. But, when it shines with all it's rich metallic depth it's almost a candy apple green. I've had trucks that color with gone paint I was prepping for paint and people would ask what color it'll be. They make a face they don't realize and kinda give an "oh, I see" reaction...like they think it's a mistake but don't want to hurt my feelings. Then once painted, "That thing looks Grrrrreat! (you know, like Frosted Flakes). Night and day difference between sides.

Re: Fitting double duces on 72 GMC

SpecialK it is a day and night difference in the wet sanded and the olive drab mess. Some folks like the flat paints and think I shouldn't do anything to it. Leave it like it is. My favorite color on these trucks is that med green metallic.
