This forum is addictive.
I feel like I was as a kid growing up. Every Sat morning was Cartoons, Godzilla and the other monsters, and my favorite Kung Fu Action Theater.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
I'm John and I have a controlling addiction to this site. I've been on a VW forum for my other hobby for about five years and racked up about 675ish post. I've been on here a tad over half a year and have already racked up half that many post as on the VW site lol.
Here's my pile of parts that used to be, and someday hopefully again will be a short/fleet BBW '66 C10. Here's the truck that got me interested in 64-66 trucks and also brought me to this forum. I restored it and when finishing it up, I ran into some problems with the turnsignals so I posted here for help.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
Hello,
My name is Nathan. I picked up a 65 C20 LWB Fleetside with a 235 L6 back in Janurary. This truck had been used and abused, but I thought it was cool and I was able to get rid of this POS 76/77/78/79 Camaro I had in the deal. The rocker panels, cab corners, and lower hood valance consisted of a mixture or cardboard, window screen, sheet metal screws, kitty hair, and Bondo. And there were two decent sized holes in the floor boards. Other than that, it wasn't in that bad of shape. I started working on it in May and since then I have replaced the rocker panels, cab corners, and hood valance, patched the floor, shot the floor with bedliner, shot the rest of the interior with an obnoxiously LOUD purple, and shot the outside in flat black. I haven't started working on the bed yet however. I also bought and hung new door shells. That was the most expensive part so far. The original doors were in bad shape. If I had a couple more years experience in metal working and fabrication I would have attempted to reskin them and put new bottoms in. Being that this is my first ever attempt at any sort of vehicle restoration I decided to spend the $1000 on new door shells. The way I see it, I saved myself way more than $1000 in work and aggrivation. I came across this site while searching for some wiring answers and decided to create a profile. That's about all for now. Unfortunately I haven't taken any pictures so I don't have any to post. Once I wrap the cab up I may finally get around to taking some pictures. It's not pretty, but it's mine. |

Hey, this is my first post here.
I have been lurking around here for a few years, answering a lot of my questions via all of your experience. Thanks to all that have unknowingly helped me over the years. I have a 69 long bed that I have been messing with for some time. I just purchased a 66 short stepside from Superflysteiny and will begin the process once it arrives. I figure it's time that I come out from behind the shadows and become a member. I'm looking forward to learning more from everyone on the site.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
I'm Dave, been off and on here for a little while. I started on here when I bought my '69 and got a TON of info that lead me to bag it, swap out a bunch of parts for upgrades, and just had a blast with it. Got out of classic trucks and focused on motorcycles for a while, but I got the itch again.
Always wanted to build a '66, so I got my C20 and laid out some initial plans. As many of my plans go, this project has spiraled I keep the budget (and a bulk of the money spent) hidden from the wife. She has a "don't ask, don't tell" policy with the "other woman in the garage". I love this site and try to contribute when and where I can. I like to share my crazy ideas and get feedback from people who might have "been there, done that" at one point. I've met a few people in person and hope to meet more. With any luck, my truck will be 90% complete by this time next year or sooner. I don't know if this site has cost me, or saved me more money in the long run.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
My name is Jeff. I drove a 65 back in high school, that I got off the farm and fixed up. Lost it some where along the way and have had many chevy's since then. I guess I'm going through a mid life crisis cause I've been looking for a 65 again for a while. I first found a 63 and bought it but I really wanted a 65. Sooo, I kept on looking and picked up a 65, but it needs alot of work. It's on a 72 chasis and I must say the guys that built this truck didn't do a good job. While searching for parts I found a 66 with factory air that I picked up. Trying to figure out the best way to mate the 65 and 66 into what I want. In the meantime I don't know what to do with the 63. Man have I got some problems.
I have been lurking for a while and will say thanks cause I've learned alot and am amazed at the quality of work some do on here. Thanks Jeff |

Hi Jeff welcome to the forum. I agree with you on the 65 and the 66. I have the same issue 66 and a 65 so little by little I am fixing both. My 66 has under the dash air from Pennys.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
This is a great thread!
My name is Cort, I have been around here for a couple years. My first 60-66 experience came in Jan. '08 when I bought my 1960 GMC truck. I just sold it last year to another board member and now I have my dream 60 GMC suburban that is going to be a slow build. I served 9 years in the US Coast Guard and just relocated from Portland, OR to Victoria, BC to attend college. I am a huge square body fan as well and have owned 4 of those, my current one being my DD 1978 Silverado Diesel. Here is my old '60: And here is my new baby, first pic of the day I got her and a current one from last summer: Believe it or not, that is the same license plate in both pics, and it is the original plate from 1960!
