Gas Pedal Question?

I have enclosed a picture of a 72 gas pedal with the trubo 400 kickdown switch. Since I went with the Edelbrock 1406 Carb, I can't use my kickdown switch that went on the Carb. My question is: My 68 Burb has a pressed cardboard cover that goes over the area in this photo. It does not seem like there is room behind the cover for that lever that pushes the kickdown switch. If I remove this cover, am I going to find the same setup?
