4 row radiator upgrade troubles....

hello all....

i bought a brand new 4 core radiator and all the brackets and rubber pads for the swap for my 72 suburban and i'm having a bit of trouble getting the bottom brackets off the radiator support. they appear to be welded on. i think i can pry them off with a cold chisel and clean up the holes that the new lower brackets will clip into. also thinking either to have the new one's tack welded in or a spot weld in the "bolt" hole or just use some jb weld so they are removable in the future in case i have to change out the radiator support. i can see i will have to make two notches on the lip so the brackets will fit. anyone else got some advise on going from a 2 to 4 row radiator? am i missing anything?

I don't have an answer to your question, but was wondering where you got your radiator?

i got my radiator from jim carter truck parts. it was only 200 compared to nearly 300 from most suppliers. i think i got the brackets and pads from either them or more likely lmc truck. i shopped around to get the best price obviously.

Yes they are spot welded on there. I drilled mine out, notched the radiator support & installed the new mounts (temporally) with self tapping sheet metal screws. After all that, it's a pretty standard install.
