4/6 drop wheel and tire question
I am planning on dropping my truck 4/6 soon. I will be using Belltech spindles, and cutting the factory spring in the front. I found a set of clean slots that are 15x8.5, with a 4.5" backspace. This brings up two questions.
1. Will they fit? 2. If so (hopefully), what size tire can I run? I would like to keep the same size all the way around. Will a 275/60 work? Using these wheels would save me a good bit of coin, just worried about fitment. |

Re: 4/6 drop wheel and tire question
I believe the factory backspace is 4.5 on these trucks...so you will likely have clearance issues with the LCA. No big deal though, just trim the LCA a little, problem solved.
Not sure on the tires, someone else will have to answer that one. FYI - I love alum slots! You used to have those on your yellow truck correct?

Re: 4/6 drop wheel and tire question
Yeah, I had the slots on the yellow truck too. I really like the look of them on pretty much anything from the 70's. My buddy Scott picked these up, and sold the truck they were going to go on. They are supposed to be like new; I haven't seen them yet.
Trimming the LCA isn't really an issue, I figured that was coming. I had a few different wheels on my 77 Blazer with these spindles, but nothing that wide in a 15 inch wheel. I have parts scattered all over the place, so it makes it hard trying to figure out what will fit without being able to try it out. |

Re: 4/6 drop wheel and tire question
mine fit buddy. i'm running the slots 8.5 wide and with i believe to be a 4" back space. the only thing i had to do (so far) is trim/grind the ears of the spindle down to clear. like you say though, its hard to know for sure until you actually have them and try bolting them up.

Re: 4/6 drop wheel and tire question
Dennis, what size drop and tires are you rinning. The tires look like they are pretty wide on your wheels.

Re: 4/6 drop wheel and tire question
the drop is 4/6 right now. 3" djm spindles and 1" bell tech coils. with a standard flip in the back. the tires are 295/50's. i wouldnt recommend going that wide on the tire's with a 8.5 rim because of the sidewall flex but it just looks sick!
if you click on my personal profile the drop is more of a 5/5 drop with just cut sagging coils and only 3 leafs in the back with the same size tires. nice stance... fyi... i'll end up cutting a half coil off the belltech's when alls said and done!

Re: 4/6 drop wheel and tire question
That is exactly what I was looking for, Dennis. I wanted to run the 275/60's all the way around, but your drop is exactly what I plan on doing.

Re: 4/6 drop wheel and tire question
That is my plan. I just need to pick up the rear out of the Blazer, get my flip kit, and get going!

Re: 4/6 drop wheel and tire question
I am still on wiring duty. I have about 10 hours in trying to get it close to right; I have the under dash stuff pretty close. Now I get to move under the hood. It really needs to warm up.

Re: 4/6 drop wheel and tire question
Adam, does that mean hell did freeze over? That's funny.
It's not -590 here yet, but it feels like it to me. I moved here to get away from the cold and that white stuff. |
