I got a couple questions:

Is there any difference in the pedal assembly on a manual pedal assembly in comparison to a truck that was already equipped with power brakes.

Do I need a different rod that goes into the brake booster. The one that is connected to the brake pedal??

Also, I got my assembly apart right now to clean a re-assemble and I pressed out the shaft that holds the actual pedal into the stamped housing. While getting this out I noticed that there are some sort of plastic bushings in there on each end. Are these available anywhere to replace? And what kinda of grease was used in there?

What I have been told the rod is different due to pedal ratio, I would tell you to check with a specialty company like master power brakes, they can help with all your questions, I have manual brakes and when my truck gets back I can measure the rod if you like....

Been a long time since I did my conversion from manual to power brakes, so I don't remember for sure but one of the pushrods was different. The plastic bushings are still available probably from a GM dealer and I've seen them in a catalog recently. If they're not totally trashed, reuse them. I think GM used white lithium grease.

If memory serves, not only is the rod differant, it is also placed in another hole on the pedal.
I am also 99% sure that the pedal assembly is the same power or non power.

I just got done tearing my pedal assembly apart on my 68 and there is only one hole in it for the rod. I`m installing a booster assemble from a 71 so I hope it works.

Mine is a 4x4 and the rod is completely different. It doesent go from the pedal direct to the booster. There is a rod-end on both ends of it. Then you have the bracket, pivot then another rod goes into the booster.
