PUI seat covers
I just got a set of scroll bucket seat covers off CL. I was wondering If anyone has experience with their products? I have heard of some problems a while back but wanted other opinions. Thanks

Re: PUI seat covers
I've used PUI on a few restorations. They are okay, never any real issues with the cover, just didn't care for their reproduction foam. I prefer Legendary Interiors over any of them.

Re: PUI seat covers
I just did a 69 Scroll bench with a pui seat cover. Came out really great. Definatally put it in the dryer for 10 minutes and snap that cover on really fast before it cools. I had to undo mine 3 times cause it cooled while I was working. Finally I heated it up and snapped it on as fast as I could than flipped it over and it was really perfect! The Seat Back cool because it takes longer to get the metal rods into, So have a hair dryerready to heat the sides and stretch them down. I used a heat gun which was too hot and melted some of the pocket material for the metal rods. But again it looks great. Just very tight,. Going to feel like it is 3" too small!

Re: PUI seat covers
That is correct, the PUI's I've used always seemed to fit very tight and I had to use a hair dryer and really work the material around.
My opinion, probably too tight as it makes me worry that later down the road I will have seam splitting issues. That's just me worrying though. Haven't seen it yet. |

Re: PUI seat covers
Where do the bucket seat covers rate on the DIY scale from easy to difficult?

Re: PUI seat covers
I do all of my own covering on my cars and trucks so I've gotten used to it.
At first it might seem a bit difficult but it's really not all that bad. Get yourself a bucket of hog rings and a good set of hog ring plyers and you'll be covering in no time. I think the worst part is just cutting all the old hog rings off, after that it's a breeze. |

Re: PUI seat covers
Let me know when you are done with your seats I would like to see them. I am getting very close to starting my interior restoration and want it to be nice and at least stock looking.
