Truck wont start
Went out to start the truck this morning and it wouldn't start. Turn the key and absolutely nothing happened.
The headlights come on and the tail lights work. When I turn the key it is like turning a disconnected key cylinder. When you turn the key the first click, everything powers up, I don't get any of that. Does the key cylinder just go bad? All of a sudden?

Re: Truck wont start
Is it an automatic? The neutral safety switch will do that. Move the shifter a little, more towards reverse. Also the ignition switch itself can cause problems. Other than that check all connections.

Re: Truck wont start
Probably should have noted that. It is a 3 speed on the floor.

Re: Truck wont start
Could be the ignition switch, I had mine go out twice in my truck. Just a pain to get the assembly out.

So... a quick trip to the parts store and a new switch and we are back in business. Thanks to all for the suggestions, and, I did look at each of those to make sure they were up to par. Here is my homemade ignition switch tester. Yellow to BAT, Blue to IGN and touch the other Blue to SOL = Engine Start.

Re: Truck wont start
Have you checked the battery cable ends? They may have corrosion keeping it from starting. Just a guess.
Good luck!

Re: Truck wont start
I am leaning towards the ignition switch. Battery terminal ends are good and the battery has a good charge.
Is there a way to jumper the ignition wires just to see if it is the switch? I guess that would be hot wiring it for all the LEO's out there.

Re: Truck wont start
Check your positive cable at the starter. My Blazer was doing the same thing this past summer, Turned out the Starter solenoid was intermittent, and eventually failed. Had power to everything else. My 2 cents.

Re: Truck wont start
Check the small wire that goes from the positive bat terminal to the junction block on the pass fender. mine broke loose one time and it did the same thing...

Re: Truck wont start
One good place to check would be the fuse block, I had similar issues except it was everything that turns on with the ignition switch and when I unbolted the fuse block it turned out to be a bad connection there
