Re: 69-70 throttle link pic needed
I'm not sure this will help, Brian. The picture is of my 69 2wd, with a TH400 and 350. I know, at minimum, you need to ignore the downshift switch and bracket to actuate the switch.
If nothing else it'll take your post back to the top. Jim |

First is a pic of a rod and not a cable it would look the same pretty much.
Here's mine just doesn't have the cable connected. |

You have a clearer picture (lighter) and do you have one at the accelerator pedal as well? What year is your truck Tree 50?

Is it safe to assume your 70 still has a rod from the firewall to the carb? The change to cable was made in 71.

Does your carb linkage look like Tree-50's? If so, maybe you could take a dremel or die grinder and remove the stud that holds the cable on a 72? Then drill it out if nec. for your rod style linkage.
Otherwise, put on the cable. You can get a carb adaptor at the u-pull-it off another quadrajet that has a cable, if you didn't get the one off the 72. That also opens the door for a down-shift cable if you decide to go automatic in the future. It's a better way to go if your motor mounts break, there is less chance of the throttle getting stuck. |
