Noob Questions on my 69

I think the original purchaser of my new (to me) 69 GMC 910, was afraid to tick off very many of the option boxes. I spent some time working with it today and discovered:

1. The interior light does NOT have door switches, you turn it on with the headlight switch;

2. The "full foam" vinyl bench seat does not fold forward to let you get at the small space behind the seat;

3.There is no cigarette lighter, just a black plastic plug on the dash;

4. You cannot lock the truck up without using the key when you leave, not even by holding the door handle button in,

Some of these features would be kind of nice to have, so I'm wondering if they were available on the 67-72s?

The other question I have is what other years, such as 73-87, have parts that are the same, and by that I mean body parts, suspension parts, brakes, and so on.

Any education would be very welcome, and thanks in advance.

2. The bench is not supposed to fold forward.
3. that is a lighter delete plug
4. possible the locks were changed and you no longer have the right key. Do they unlock?

67-72 suspension is its own little world.

Re: Noob Questions on my 69

I can tell you the dome light & door locks are the same on my '69. Well one of my doors doesn't lock at all but that's another story.

You can lock and unlock the doors with the key if you are outside, or with the pushbuttons from the interior. The same key turns the ignition switch.

Interesting about the seat, as I recall that my 71 GMC had a small black lever down at the pivot point that you could use to fold the seat forward, but it was a much more deluxe truck than the 69 I have. I could put a thin suitcase back there, and it made it easy to get the jack and tire tools out.

Re: Noob Questions on my 69

My 69 910 cst has door jamb switches for the dome light, so they were available. If your cab has holes in the jambs for the switches, there's no reason they can't be added. I may even still have the harness ( needs work ) that I removed from mine when I put the AAW kit in. Freebie if you can use it.

My locks are the same as yours.

If you want a folding seat, you need a 67 seat, or one from a later square body. I had an 80 k10 with a rigid seat, and an 81 c3500 with a folder, so maybe that's the dividing year. If you're looking for a folder, since you're in Vancity, head up to pick a part in the wack. They had an 89 c3500 c+c with a folding seat when I was there a couple of weeks ago. Grab the sway bar and brackets while you're there. They'll bolt right on your truck.
