need to make a decision about my truck

Ive been thinking about selling my 69. I have a couple bills Id like to make go away & have a chance to get another project CHEAP. Its a 67 SWB truck with a 71(?) cab & comes with a fleet & step bed. Id really like to start a truck as a "frame up" project, make some small cosmetic & performance changes & cant see cutting my somewhat highly optioned 69 up to get it. Any idea what my CST is worth? If I cant get decent money for it, Ill just keep it...

Dang Corn. That's a tough one. Only you can decide what decent money is for your 69. And are you willing to sell it and start all over on another one? This isn't your daily driver is it? I seem to recall you saying you liked the steppers and with the 67 rig you can have both bed options.

That would be the key for me - if you don't get what you want out of your '69, then don't sell it. My '67 was relatively intact, and I'm not doing a frame off, but there is a LOT of work involved in these things. So keep that in consideration. Just my .02.

Re: need to make a decision about my truck

I agree with you guys. Its not my daily driver & I like this truck just the way it is but Ive always wanted a short step. Id like to have a frame off & the fact that it would take a few years is ok by me. Having a project to tinker on is good therapy for me. Who knows, I may change my mind tomorrow.

Re: need to make a decision about my truck

Well sometimes we do tend to burn out on a current ride and want something else. A fresh start if you will. Ya know you could pull the loooooooong bed on yours and cut a little bit here and there and while you are at it clean up the rear half of the frame and suspension, etc...there's one half of your frame off redo. I know you don't want to go cutting on it but I'm just sayin..ya could.

I guess you could put some feelers out on your truck and see what happens..... It is always a tough decision to sell something, especially if you have had it a while.

I'm partial to the short beds myself. If you get the project truck and want to sell the short fleet box keep me in mind... Nice thing about it is I could run up and get it.

Re: need to make a decision about my truck

I'd trade 2 LWB 1/2 tons for a SWB 1/2 ton in the comparable shape. **Ducks flying objects from the LWB guys** That's just preference though. I excluded 3/4 tons and 1 tons because they are totally different animals.

Re: need to make a decision about my truck

I understand the whole short/long value debate. Its not that big of a deal to me. I just cant see cutting up a factory big block CST truck even if the bed is longer. Ill probably just keep the one I have...

Re: need to make a decision about my truck

Ive made my decision. With all the booing about flat black paint around here & me thinkin its cool, I decided to keep the truck I have & in 6 months Ill have the only flat black truck left!

The shortbed project might still make it to the board though, but not from me....
