First Post - New Project - 1971 GMC
Picked up my first project! Got it running but having transmission problems (no forward gears). Looks to be mostly complete and original. Original paint is under all that primer. It has a lot of rust in the doors and rockers. I paid $800 does that seem reasonable? Bought it about a month ago, been lurking and picking up a lot of information on the forum.

Pretty decent looking truck there. Other than the tranny issue, i think you did fine for 800.

Re: First Post - New Project - 1971 GMC
$800....you did fine.
See if you can source/find a good used (correct length/type) transmission and put it in. Then, go over the brakes and fuel system and make sure everything is (mostly) operative like lights, signals, horn, etc....and that thing on the road and put some miles on it. That will give you time to develop a 'long game' plan for what you might want to do with it. All good Coley
