going to start installing a body lift tonight and got all the nuts off the but can't get any bolts to come out, just lift up through frame mount and the back most bolt won't even do that but a half inch up. Looks like the back 2 bolts are tack welded to the body too. Any tips? I am to the point of griding off head then airhammer down but figured would see if there is any other ways people have done it. thanks.

just have to grind off the tack welds between the bolt and the body. probably a good bit of rust too.........may need some single jack persuasion

I have the whole rig in the air with the porta power under that one bolt and I jump up in bed and still no movement.

Been there and have had to do it that way but use it as a last resort.

Try cleaning off the spot weld first, then go from there accordingly.

When I replaced mine, all the bolts with the exception of the two in the rad area, were tacked to the body. To make things worse the previous owner had put in a spray in liner. I used a Dremel to grind the tack welds and was able to do a very clean job that did not wreck the liner. Time consuming but worth it in the end.

I messed with it a little tonight and my quesiton was, on the rear bolts that are a carriage type bolt if i grind the head of the bolt off and try to air hammer down with the square flange on the top of bolt fit down that cast in sleave/tube type deal in the main body support (Make senase)? if so I will hammer down. If not i would prob shoot myself in foot doing that and wedge the square flank part of carrage bolt in that tube deal.

Your right it may not fit thru the tube, any chance you could cut the nut off and hit it up from the bottom? Jim

I did all of mine this way without any problems.

cool, thanks for the info orange72. I could prob go up with all the bolts except the veyr back ones since they are in the C of the frame and not on a bracket off the side of the frame

I just took off the last of my body bolts as I'm doing the PS floorboard, I cut the nut vertically twice and chiseled the slots I created. Looking at the area your talking about you should be able to fit the grinder w/cut off wheel in there. Problem is you won't have much room to swing a hammer. I think I read you have a port a power tool, you could press it up with that. Jim

yeah, I was using the porta power on the rear most bolt. Had the back tire off the ground even pushing up on just that bolt plus jumping in bed and beating against the foot of the porta power and no luck
