Brake Booster Info - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a brake kit from Early Classic Ent and I'd like to upgrade to power assist. I have the 11" disc in the front and stock drum rear. The master cylinder is a dual reservior that came with the kit. On a '65 what booster should I use? Do I need any brackets? I don't want anything too touchy, but I got a cramp after cruisin' the other day. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm using the 9" slimline booster from Master Power Brakes shown at the following link:

There are times I wish I had gotten the 8" dual diaphram booster instead for a bit more power, but it wasn't released at the time I did mine. Perhaps Early Classic has a similar offering. Although the booster shows as an assembly with the master cylinder, MP does sell the components separately if you call them.

I ran mine with manual discs for a few years, but it got to where it was hurting my back to make hard stops. The 9" booster is a big improvement, but is definitely not overboosted.

I can provide you with a bolt on bracket (no holes to drill) that will allow you to use an OEM sytle booster that you can purchase either at your local auto parts store or at a salvage yard. You can see it in the link in my sig. Let me know if you're interested.

If buying the oem reman booster for these years all the ones we sell have the bracket on the booster. Did you get a MC that will work for manual and pwr brake apps? Or just a manual MC? You can put just about any kind of booster on just depending on the room you have and if you want single our a dual diaphragm. We have just about the lowest prices in the country on brake parts. We are also dealers for MPbrakes.
