brain fart question about rear-ends
well i found a burb c-20 wiht a 14 bolt. i mark the wheel on the top and kept an eye on the yoke part thingy......it spun 2 times wiht a full turn of the wheel now somthing wrong cause i dont thinks thats right. but am i following this cheap way of trying to eye ball this gear ratio? thank.......

I believe both wheels need to be off the ground when using that method...

they were, the truck is sitting on steel wheels. this is at a wrecking yard. but a gear ratio of 2.00 kinda odd

If you are looking at an open rear end that 2.00 will get doubled as the other wheel is turning 2 turns in the opposite direction while your side is turning 2 turns in the direction you turn it. Spiders will do that. If you get someone to hold the other wheel as you do it you'll get a real number. Its hard to get a real number if you dont have someone hold the other side as the brakes can drag on the other side or bearings hang up on rear ends that have been sitting for a while. It'll still be a combination of the revolutions of both sides but unless you are counting them exactly it'll throw you off. You're probably looking at 4.10 or 4.11 gears in that one. Whichever 14 bolts have. 3.73's is most common for 14 bolts.
