What are the best fitting headers for a 67 with a 454?

I think it depends on some variables, like what motor mounts you used and the position on the frame they were bolted to. Also what kind of starter and if it is a manual or automatic transmission.

I have found that a mini starter is necessary with a big block and headers from recent experience.

I am sure some one else will chime in with more info.

For my '67 I used Sanderson C6's. It's a 572 with 67 -71 396 motor mounts. Trans is a Turbo 400. No need for a mini starter but the oil filter will need to be relocated using a remote filter setup. These are full length headers and tuck up into the frame so none of the exhaust is visible...helps cause I dropped my truck using an ECE 4/6 drop kit. The C6's fit 396, 454, 502 & 572.

Did you have to notch the frame?

Very small half moon notch 3/8 in deep and 3 in long on top frame rail only on passenger side for #4 cylinder tube. See photo. Last photo shows why you need to relocate the filter...just no way to get it out once it's spun off.

I'm running Hedman #69110 on my truck w/'73-'87 engine mounts. I did have to clearance the frame rails both above & below on both sides, but I chalk that up to my running a tall deck. I have no issues with the oil filter location even though I'm running a GM oil cooler adapter that drops the filter 3-4". I am also running a later-model 454 gear reduction starter.

I'm using Headman 69130 on a 72 C20 with a 572 in it. I had to notch the passenger side frame rail both top and bottom to clearance the header. These are 2" primaries into 3" collectors.

No head gasket or transmission issues yet. fingers crossed
