Looking for GMC grill pictures

I have a 69 GMC with a chrome grill. I'm thinking about installing the grill that is partially painted, not sure what year(s) that is.
The look I am going for is black truck with this grill that is partially black.
Also plan on doing away with the top chrome and using 67-68 hood.

If anyone has a picture of a set-up like this I would appreciate it.

If you are planning on switching to a '67-8 grille this might be what you are looking for.

Re: Looking for GMC grill pictures

OK, take pjmorelands 68 and put bobD's grill on it with pissonNOS's black bumper and that's what I'm looking for. Not sure I'm gonna do it, but it's the look I'm looking for. Oh yeah, hang Mongo's grill off the rear.
You guys are great, thanks and keep um comming.

Re: Looking for GMC grill pictures

Aitch, to use the 67-68 hood you'll need the top bar from a 67-68 GMC to fill in the gap when you remove the chrome piece. If you look at the pic it is painted black on the truck below and it rivets to the grill where you remove the chrome strip. You'll also need the hood latch from a 67-68 GMC as it is different from the 69-72 GMC hood latch. Other than that, it's a piece of cake.

Good luck, Rg

RG, that's really nice. Thank you for the information.
It's just about what I'm looking for. Except I want black of course and the 71-72 grill.

68gmcdually... is that a 71/72 grill on your 68?
I've always thought something looked out of place on the nose of your rig, and I couldn't put my finger on it till now. That's a 71/72 grill with the black paint removed and the 68 surround trim.

WELL, maybe it is. It originally had a '67 grille in it when I bought it, the quote to rechrome it was astronomical. So we where at Hershey PA that fall and I found a grille that was rechromed from a company called Bumper Boyz, they assured me that it was the right one and I paid my money and brought it home. Installed it, drove it to the wedding, parked the truck in the driveway and went on my 13 day honeymoon. Came home and the grille had surface rust on it, and I waxed it the day I installed it. Oh well, as I said before, it might be the wrong grille as something is just not right with the front end, although it did match up with the '67 grille hole for hole.

Now that I see them together I think that I notice the biggest difference is around the headlight bezels, what else tips ya off, is the main crossbar thicker?

Re: Looking for GMC grill pictures

The Bumper Boyz are trash.I`m surprised Hershey let`s them in.They`ve been banned from several swaps. They`re known for keeping your nice piece and replacing it with crap on the exchange program.Look`s like they lied about your grille`s vintage.

Well they where there last year as well. I voiced my displeasure and they weren't very sympathetic. Luckily for me I didn't trade anything in. I still have my '67 grille hanging up in the garage. Someday I will find a '68 grille and get it chromed then rather than selling my other grille I will just have to buy a truck that it fits.

Re: Looking for GMC grill pictures

68gmcdually, look at the center verticle bar. The one on your truck is wide, and has a recessed area in the center that goes up and down. That recessed is supposed to be black, and your set up, is exactly what aitch is asking about, except yours hasn't been painted. A 68 - 70 grill will look like your 67 grill with the exception of the GMC lettering. Starting in 69, they added thich chrome eyebrows and top bar that make the grill look big and thick, but they are in addiditon to the actual grill.
