Master Cylinder

Final got some time to work on my hanging front brakes. Has a good friend who builds street rods drive it. He thinks master cylinder or combination value probably master cylinder.

Can anyone tell me what year(s) my master cylinder fits - see pics. From the depth of the bowl it looks to me like one for disk/disk. It has a deep pocket. I looked at one for a 83 which a think is disk/drum but it had a shallow pocket.

It came with a front disk brake kit I ordered. I have lost name of company and can't find it online. The kit was for 6 lug which I wanted to keep.

Getting the same type would save me having to make new lines - I am a master kinker.

Thanks

Re: Master Cylinder

^^^ yup. That master looks just like what I have on my '70 with disc/drum brakes. Master is from a '71, iirc.

The Raybestos MC36280 is an exact match, I'd say:

Re: Master Cylinder

I had to replace my master cylinder a few days ago for my '67 C10. Previous owner installed a CPP 4-wheel disk setup, but neglected the master cylinder and the rear port was clogged/rusted shut. I wound up getting Summit SUM-760101-1 with 1-1/8" bore, 1/2-20 front and 9/16-18 rear exit ports, which will match the old CPP m/c.

Re: Master Cylinder

Other than the fitting thread sizes, the only thing of any real importance is the piston bore diameter.

MC for manual brakes will have a deep hole in the piston. MC for use with brake booster needs a shallow piston hole.

The shape and size of the reservoir(s) is the least important consideration.
