tilt steering wheel help

I picked up a tilt steering column for my 67 yesterday at a swapmeet but it is shorter than the origonal column is there mods i need to do to make it fit in my truck?

Hey Leon,

Sounds like you picked up a van tilt.....thus you may have to relocate the Neutral Safety switch at the bottom of the column....

it doesnt look like it has a collapsable shaft on it like the orig one does or is it already collapsed?

Does your 67 have the original column with the very long shaft? If it does then the Van Tilt will work if you get the later shaft extension (69-72) which is the collapsable part.

how hard is it to change the shafts in those columns i do have the collapsable one?

Its easy. Just unbolt the rag joint at the power steering gear and the clamp at the end of the steering column. Drill out the plastic rivets in the newer style end and install!
