Re: Lets see some Late 70s early 80s 4x4 Longbeds
Yo! FRANKENTRUCK is not finished, but damned if it isn't a fine '78 4x4 longbed workhorse. Just needs bodywork and paint now. 350 shortblock with World heads: 2.02/1.6 valves and 67cc combustion chambers,...Crane cam advanced 4 degrees, roller rockers, Weiand, Holley, shorty headers with Summit turbos and 2.5" pipe straight out the back. HEI with 6A MSD. TH400 (AAMCO custom rebuilt for me to include a long output shaft) with 1200-1500 stall speed converter, TH400/NP205 adapter, and an Off Road Design, machined, twin-stick NP205.
Chip Foose "Spank" 17" rims with 285x70x17 firestones: 1973 axles/springs from my old donor flatbed,...Dana 44 with Warn locking hubs up front, and a 5560 lb rated full floating rear. New bearings, seals, brakes rebuilt throughout. Twin 20 gallon tanks,...regulated electric fuel pump backup to the mechanical. New dash pad, upholstery, floor underlayment, insulation, and floormat: It also has a 22W RMS x 4 Kenwood AM/FM/CD/iPod USB indash unit that I custom installed, and two pairs of 6.5" Kenwood 3-ways stacked in diagonal, cab-corner, speaker boxes. Got it for free from a Wyoming cow pasture: Todd.

Todd~ Just wanted to say what an inspiration your truck is to me! I read your whole build thread about a million times here in Korea. Plus I checked out your car on Nasty Z28. I have the exact same truck except mine is a 4 speed manual. As soon as I get back to the states, I will be posting a build thread. By the way, Frankentruck is my desktop background. I love that truck!

It's not much yet but it is in decent original shape overall.

Re: Lets see some Late 70s early 80s 4x4 Longbeds
Yo! tim23mn!
Geeze my head puffed up and about burst when I read your comment,...I feel SO proud! A lot of work, as you can imagine, but well worth it to enjoy the result! Ya should feel what it's like to shift into front wheel drive in a LWB P/U on packed snow! Suddenly, it feels JUST like a FWD car! My Camaro's engine just turned out PERFECT, so I used the same engine build for FRANKENTRUCK. The two provide me with all-weather transportation 40 miles/day to and from work, plus cruise/work duty as needed. And allow me to remind other drivers of how cool the square bodies and 2ond gen Camaros looked! Korea, huh? Take good care. I'll look forward to your build thread! Let me know if I can help in any way! Just PM me! Todd.
