How much is this 1970 c10 worth?

I've been looking at 69-70 C10 short beds for a few years and I came across one a few hours away from where I live. Seems in pretty good shape, haven't seen it yet in person but before I do I was wondering -- what do you guys think it's worth?

Info on truck:

"Rebuilt 350 engine with high performance parts. Rebuilt turbo 350 trans with shift kit. Fuel tank relocated to rear underside of bed. 12 bolt posi rear. Custom gauges, speedo and rpm tach. Truck has been lowered 2 inches. This is a truck you can jump in and enjoy at any local car show or cruise. This is not a 25k+ show truck but a very nice dependable driver for far less."

Woman's got her hands on her hips, making sure you're really selling it?

How much for that step side in the background?

Yes, I am incorrigible.

Re: How much is this 1970 c10 worth?

I think this truck is worth 7500 - 9500, depending on the underside/ rust situation. Possibly over 10 if it has good documentation. Wait a minute. Anytime I see a “press on” fiberglass cowl induction hood scoop I take at least thousand dollars off the price because I just really don’t like them. Plus it makes me think if they were willing to put that thing on the truc, then what other engineering marvels did they come up with?

X2 to what Jocko said in the next post... it is really a better answer. Oh, and by the way, there are a bunch of helpful people here... just in case you were wondering.

Welcome to the site Tyler.

You don't need to be a subscribing member to ask what a truck you are considering buying is worth.

As for this truck - with the bed not sitting level with the rest of the truck - I'd suspect a botched swb conversion. If seriously interested, I'd look very closely at the frame to see if it has been done, and, if so, if done well (skeptical). If originality is important, should have a 115 wb and Model 10734 on the SPID. If being an original swb isn't important to you, no problema, but just check out to make sure it was shortened properly.

Thanks Jocko!

For sure, it seemed a bit skeptical -- I figured it was due to the lowered suspension but I will definitely ask if it was a botched swb conversion. Originality isn't super important but I do want the car to look like a classic c10. I personally don't like the lowered suspension nor the cow hood induction but I think that these are things that I can go along with and fix if the rest of the car is good to go.

The seller is asking $13,500.

Really appreciate the feedback! Very very helpful.

Yeah the guy said there is no rust he's "aware of" but I want to inspect myself and bring it to a mechanic. I saw the press on cow hood also and got pretty disgusted but figured I can possibly remove it, a little inconvenience for me but not a dealbreaker.

Thanks for the welcome & help/feedback.

Re: How much is this 1970 c10 worth?

The truck would have me being cautious.
I agree with Jocko on the box....what is with that?
Get under the truck and check the frame to see if it has been shortened..then check the spid and serial numbers to see if it was originally a shortbed vs. longbed truck.
As well, the 10 minute gloss black overspray job under the hood makes me nervous as well.

....Job no 1: Get some cardboard and get under the truck and find out if that is an original shortbed or not and then you can check for the rust worm as wel...noting that you can't estimate much of anything on truck like this until you get under it.
That is where you will find your pricing in my opinion.

all good

Re: How much is this 1970 c10 worth?

With the cab roof trim it should be some sort of 2 tone. The overspray tells me it’s a quickie repaint. In your part of the country that sounds like filler over rust. As well as the crooked bed and other things already pointed out.
Maybe it’s a gem, maybe not.
For that kind of $, I’d look south and out west.
