Big block air vs small block air
If you are removing a big block from a truck with factory air and installing a small block in its place with all of the small block factory air brackets is there anything about the way a big block is set up that would need to be changed besides the obvious brackets?
Hope that made sense =)

Re: Big block air vs small block air
Aside from a possible difference in AC hoses, be sure the radiator and shroud are for a big block with air...

Re: Big block air vs small block air
Since the truck is already a big block with air it does have the radiator and shroud it came with. Are you saying those parts will need to be changed when installing a small block?

Some times yes they will need to be changed depending on where you locate the motor when you install it.

Hopefully you've already taken care of the obvious items -- fan shroud, motor mounts and frame brackets, etc.. The radiator should work just fine with a SBC Radiators can't be too big provided the shroud fits, but they can be too small.. BBC and SBC compressor brackets won't interchange and the AC hoses may or may not work, I'm guessing they will provided the compressor mounts on the same side of either engine. You should be ok with everything else... |
