Re: My Project
welcome... click "go advanced" if you are replying and click on the paper clip, or just use the paper clip if you are starting a thread like you just did. Pictures have to be under 100K so you need to use MS paint to make them smaller usually.... You can alo link to remote pictres like in photobucket or other places. Then you just copy and paste the HTML code that is found on that site under your picture. Good luck...

Re: My Project
This was my truck in 2005. I was on the Hot Rod Power Tour and we stopped at a friend on mines moms house in Tn. What happened to the truck after this trip was a result of needing to fix the a/c...............

Re: My Project
What I found when I removed the right front fender was rust and lots of it. The truck was rusting from the inside out. I bought the truck in 2003 for a driver and the previous owner did a nice job at covering things up.............

Re: My Project
Me being curious, I had to go a step further to see how far this went. The cab was in terrible shape. So much so that I felt it needed replacing rather than repairing. I though since I had the cab off I'd take the bed off to.......

Re: My Project
That's how they start..... My man, you have been diagnosed with trukrestoritis. It's gonna take thousands of dollars and anywhere from 1-5 years to get over this. Lucky for you we have a great support group here with almost all of us infected to some degree or the other. If you have any questions about your disease, throw them at us, there are guys here that have had it a long time and have even had re-occurrences of it. Welcome to the board from Virginia....... Jerry

With the chassis rolling I moved on to the replacement cab. I bought this cab for $128.00!!!! I replaced the inner and outer rockers and the lower left cab corner. I smoothed the firewall, gas filler hole and the seam on top of the cab..............

Re: My Project
Last summer it was time to move and the project was put on hold for a while. Our new house only had 3 bedrooms and we needed 5 so I parked the project and built 2 bedrooms downstairs and framed in a bathroom for the girls. In may of this year I pulled it out and dusted it off only to have to stop working on it again so I could get my daughters truck ready for her 16th birthday in Aug. We bought her an '89 chevy so I'm replacing the grille, bumpers and repainting it for her. I also bought my other daughter a '67SWB Chevy for her 16th bday coming up in Dec. It needs a lot of work to be ready by Dec so my project will be a little slow moving for a while. I tell you all this to bring you to this point, my family comes first and this truck will always be there. My wife appreciates this and to show her appreciation for my commitment to our family, for our anniversary she bought me the ultimate gift. Something I only dreamed of putting on my truck........................pic coming soon.

Re: My Project
Nice progress/work. My wife is not so understanding. Any time spent on the truck is time away from the family, period. So no matter when I work on it I'm always in trouble.

Is the valve cover color a hint as to the color the rest of the truck will be? Looks great so far. |

Re: My Project
Wow, it looks killer so far.
I too was bitten by a previous owner covering things up, my '67 has hidden rot waiting to be taken care of. Great deal on that cab too, I'd be happy to find one that nice for twice the money. |
