Brothers One-piece windows - opinions please - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm interested in the Brothers one-piece kit. I've tried to search the board to get an accurate opinion...I may be looking in the wrong places, but anyone that's interested in commenting would be great.

How is the functionality?
Does it rattle?
Do you like the looks?
Any other problems?
Does anyone else make a better kit?
Would you rather go back to original?

Right off the bat i would say keep it origional. and belive me i am not shy when it comes to cuting chopping and updating.

fact is the doors of these truck really dont got a wholelot of meat to them in th first place if you plan on driving the truck, passengers opening the doors rolling the windows down it puts alot of stress on the window frames. the "rattle" issues can always be fixed with modern silicone and rubber seals.

problems wise really is getting the electronics and brackets in correctly without binding up anything

I have the brothers kit, the only thing I have a problem with is rolling them up the last 1 or 2 inches when driving about 60 MPH or faster. They seem to get sucked out at the top at these speeds. They may be a little loose halfway down but nothing bad. They made my truck a ton quieter. I like them and the looks. So if I could get them a little less "loose" at the top they would be perfect otherwise I just slow down to get them all the way up.

I haven't driven my truck with them, but I thought the install directions were horrible.

WOw, I am glad this thread was atrted because this was one of those I want to do thigs on my 71, I guess I am going to pass.

i have them as well have not drove mine yet to check over all performance of them, but install is a pain there are step by step pics on the internet that make it easier but be prepared to spend 4-6 hours per side and try to do a mock up before paint cause some grinding and drilling is required but can be done after its just a little harder. IMO the look is well worth it and i think wing windows are a pain.

I have installed them, and had the ability to do it during the build stage.

It is not hard at all, and you can knock the first one out in the morning, and the next one in half the time.

I plated the corners of mine, and mounted a peep mirror there.

The truck looks killer with them, go to my build and look:

They are great for cruising around, the truck seems like a hardtop with such a big open window.
It is one of the few mods that people notice, especially truck guys.

The negatives are several.
The door will be able to be squeezed from the brace being removed for the vent window.
The window can seem looser than the stock style since it is bigger and has less support halfway up or down.
Mine driver window has a lot of air noise at speed, but I think that is where I mounted the peep mirror, right in the jet blast of the windshield.
It is not for guys that like to slam doors really hard.

On the truck we are doing now I was going to install them but changed at the last minute only because I bought a pair of perfect vent windows.
Other wise I would have cut the doors.
Might install them on a future truck since the triangles are plated and ready to go.

I don't really care for them. I like the looks of these trucks with the vent windows. The vent windows seem to enhance the style of the truck and look like they belong there. But this is just my opinion, i'm kind of old school anyways. Joseph
