A different loose mirror problem
Someone was asking about the roof mount joint, but my LMC repro mirror has a different problem: the ball and socket part is loose.
Is there any kind of adjustment, or what else can I try? I was born in Canada so my natural instinct is to put some maple syrup on it so it gets sticky and doesn't flop around, but there's probably a better way. Ideas? I still have my original, so if I could transfer the mirror to my original (where the mirror is damaged) so long as I can polish out the stainless well enough.

Re: A different loose mirror problem
I would think that there should be a screw somewhere to set the pressure. If not???
Maybe someone else that has one from LMC will chime in.

Re: A different loose mirror problem
Is the repro mounting bracket different from the original style in the picture below? The originals allow you to tightened the arm in the socket by turning the screw. If not, will the repro mirror fit in the factory arm?

Re: A different loose mirror problem
I was the one that posted the "other" loose mirror post. I have the same mount as the pic above and can definitely tighten the bolt down tight around the ball... I am wondering if some of the after market parts are just off enough that they are presenting adjustment issues...?
I am going to the parts bin for shimming possibilities, just a thought. Brian 1970 SWB CST 400, 402/400TH, AC, PB, PS |

Re: A different loose mirror problem
The solution I had originally gave to briscuba was to replace that aftermarket black bracket with an original if you still had it. Chances are the stamping, gauge thickness, and better quality of the original will allow you to tighten that up. I utilized parts from an aftermarket and an original to create mine as I had both on hand already.
