Ammeter question
Howdy y'all
Does anyone out there know if I can use my original ammeter with my new internal regulated alternator. I also want to use an led idiot light for the alternator, if I remember my basic electronics theory I think I need to use a resistor to simulate the bulb and then tie the led in parallel with it. Does that sound right? Been out of school for too many years! |

Re: Ammeter question
Are you trying to make your own idiot light? If so, you have to wire the resistor in series and also make sure you know which side of the LED is positive and negative.
You could also skip the whole resister issue and just get an LED rated for 12v DC current but still have to be aware of the positive and negative leg. |
