front drive shaft
how far can a stock 1970 k10 stepside front drive shaft extend safely from its stock position.. will it be capable of handleing a 6inch lift thanks joe

6" lift, on a stock front shaft? No, get a new one made up.
As soon as you extend the front suspension, the slip yoke will come apart. I had mine lengthened, and I am only on a 2 inch lift. It's not as big a deal as you may think. Go to a good shop, tell them what lift you are doing and they will set you up. I had mine done at: Drive Shaft Specialist (626) 334-2418 1117 W Foothill Blvd Azusa, CA 91702

I think you will just have to try it and see. My blazer has a 6" skyjacker lift, and the stock front shaft works just fine. I used to do lots of rockcrawling and never had a problem.

I have a 4" lift on my 72 GMC and the front drive line is barely long enough, I dont really trust it and will be getting it lengthened before it starts snowing. If I were you I would definitely have a new one made up.
